‘The girl with the pearl earring’ by Tracey Chevalier
Uncategorized August 27th, 2007
I have read the book ‘The girl with the pearl earring’ by Tracey Chevalier and also viewed the film several times.
I find Chevalier’s prospective of Vermeer’s painting ‘The girl with the pearl earring’ so far from surreal, that I could believe it to be true.
We are reading ‘The girl with the pearl earring’ by Tracey Chevalier in our English class and are so far up to Page 93. This is my second time reading the novel, which gives me more of an understanding of the characters, the storyline and the setting during the time of the story.
The Character Griet in the story is a young lady who has gone to work as a maid for the famous painter Vermeer and child expectant wife. Griet is polite, and respectful to her elders, she follows orders and completes all tasks no matter how small or large to her fullest ability.
Griet the kind of character that I imagined the girl in Vermeer’s painting to be, yet deeper and more interesting.
Hopefully I will gain a greater knowledge of Griet reading further into the novel for a second time.
